EDX3000 X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometer
The EDX3000 is a versatile energy dispersive  X-ray fluorescence spectrometer designed for a variety of applications. High precision, repeatability, non destructive analysis and large area measurement are the highlights of this versatile instruments.  Application areas span a wide range of industries from jewellery, metallurgy, fuel, lubricant, chemical, cement and biochemical.

How do XRF's work?
Have you wondered why fluorescent colours seem very bright? These colours absorb light for a moment and then utilises this stored light to emit a much brighter colour. The process is called fluorescence. Similarly when a (primary) X-Ray beam strikes an element, it absorb the radiation and reflects another (secondary) X-ray.  Each element reflects a different x-ray which identifies the element.  The XRF's detector registers the radiation emitted by the secondary x-ray and transmits it to the proprietary software which calculates and displays the qualitative and quantitative values. The intensity of radiation indicates the concentration of each element.

Measurement area
The EDX3000 has a spacious sample chamber which allows for measurement of large samples. The instrument is interfaced to a computer through parallel port and uses an extremely user friendly Windows based software for fast and easy analysis. The large diameter measurement area, quickly gives a precise result of the elements present. This feature eliminates the need to obtain multiple measurement and calculate averages to achieve similar results.

Analysis
Samples are excited through collimated and focused primary x-rays using an internally cooled high resolution semiconductor silicon detector. The measurement time ranges between 20 to a few hundred seconds per sample. With precious metal jewellery the accuracy is about 0.07% and has absolutely no problems in measuring irregular surfaces due to the large measuring area and innovative software. Qualitative and quantitative analysis ranging from Calcium to Uranium comprising 73 elements in the periodic table can be determined in about 100 seconds.

Detector
The EDX3000 uses an semiconductor silicon detector with ultra thin Be film and has internal cooling. It has a high spectral resolution and high count rate which facilitates quick and precise measurement.

Software
Windows based software is extremely user friendly and can analyse and display results easily and fast. Measurement requires just one single step which makes it easy for almost anyone to operate the system. Apart from the imbedded factory calibrated standards, customization for individual requirements can be configured in three easy steps. Qualitative analysis requires only a single step if no information about the sample is available.
